Wow, it’s summer! How did that happen? No seriously, we have only just recycled our Christmas tree..
Summer is that joyous time of year when the sun is out, the birds are singing, and people generally just seem that little bit happier. Well, that is of course unless you are one of the many people who suffer the misery of hay fever.
Hay fever is an allergic reaction to pollen (a fine powder from plants), typically when it comes into contact with your mouth, nose, eyes and throat. It can be thoroughly exhausting especially if you are prone to sneezing all day long. It is usually worse between late March and September, especially when it’s warm, humid and windy. And this year experts are predicting sky high pollen counts will keep soaring until October triggering the worst hayfever epidemic since the 1960s.
Whilst seeing your doctor or pharmacist is always recommended for hay fever sufferers there are natural remedies which could help. The very best place to start is wild Oregano oil. Oil of Oregano is not only antifungal but also a powerful antihistamine. Wow, who knew? In his book, ‘Doctor’s Guide to Wild Oregano Oil 101 uses’ (2018) Dr Cass Ingram suggests taking the oil of wild oregano, ideally as drops under the tongue, five or more drops twice daily. In addition, he also suggests taking a high quality whole food Vitamin C.
